Caroline and Gemma are the two gals behind The DIY Style Co. They met when they were both pregnant with their first babies and discovered that they both loved to make stuff, were crazy about home decor and design, loved to entertain, and have a good laugh.
After styling a wedding together, collaborating on projects, and hosting a successful Pop Up Shop, they realized how much they would love to share their DIY tips and tricks with others in a fun ladies-night-out type environment. And so, The DIY Style Co. was born.
More about Gemma:
Gemma Bonham-Carter is the author of popular blog, the sweetest digs. She is known for creating a stylish home on a budget, and blogs about her DIY projects, how to build a blogging business, decor tips, and more. She also sells fun handmade products, designed for the decor-loving girlboss (check her out on Etsy here), and takes on some freelance work in interior decorating. Gemma is a mama of two sweet kiddos, who keep her on her toes.
1 // Gemma is a coffee snob, and will accept only a few select brands. Warning: Don’t talk to her unless she’s had her first Americano of the day.
2 // Gemma’s first room makeover was at the age of 13 when she sponge-painted her bedroom yellow. Remember sponge painting? Thank god that’s out.
3 // She can say the alphabet backwards as quickly as she can say it forwards. This skill sadly has not come in useful so far in her lifetime.
4 // She was born in Ottawa, went away to University and spent some time abroad, but ended up back in her hometown despite thinking she would never come back. She LOVES everything about Ottawa now. Funny how life turns out.
5 // Her idea of heaven is a Saturday morning road trip (with coffee in hand) out to the flea markets and garage sales. Follow that up with lunch on a patio somewhere and life is officially made.
More about Caroline:
Caroline Eyvindson is a wild momma of two who rarely sits still. In her younger years she studied yoga in India and taught skiing in B.C. She loves style and saving a buck. She has studied culture in university, trades in college, upholstery at night school, and design from every book and post she can get her hands on. If she’s not discussing organic skin care, planning a wedding, or running her Airbnb; you might see her stealing furniture from the side of the road or planning out her next project on the floor of Home Depot.
1 // Her first house was listed as a “handyman’s dream” and they bought it with a month and a half to fix it up before her wedding.
2 // She has an expired forklift license but is still willing to drive if anyone has a forklift.
3 // Her radio only has one station: CBC.
4 // Her son’s first word was “wine”, but he still says “cling” instead of “cheers”.
5 // She is her Mom’s biggest fan and learns from her everyday: everything from the best wine bars, the best movies at the Bytowne and the best grasses to add height to a garden.
